Public inquiry to be held into Great Yarmouth Harbour Revision Order application
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) has decided to call a public inquiry to consider an application for a harbour revision order (HRO) for Great Yarmouth.
The MMO has written to the Planning Inspectorate to request an inspector be appointed to hold the inquiry, which will focus specifically on the HRO application. The inquiry is being held as it is felt the case will benefit from a full independent examination of available evidence.
Following the inquiry the inspector will consider all the evidence and provide recommendations to the MMO. These recommendations will inform the MMO’s decision on the HRO application.
Although not yet arranged, it is expected the inquiry will take place in spring 2013. Further details will be published on the MMO website once available.
Update: 11 February 2013
In December 2012 we wrote to the Planning Inspectorate to request an Inspector be appointed to hold an inquiry into the application made by the Great Yarmouth Port Company Ltd for a harbour revision order (HRO) under section 14 of the Harbours Act 1964.
We have received confirmation from the Planning Inspectorate that the public inquiry will take place on 9, 10 and 12 April 2013 at Great Yarmouth Borough Council Town Hall.
In addition, the inspector has decided that it would be beneficial for a pre-inquiry meeting to be held on 1 March 2013. Those parties who have made representations as part of the application process are being contacted directly about their involvement.
Update: 20 February 2013
The Planning Inspectorate's briefing for the pre-inquiry meeting is available on the Great Yarmouth HRO selected cases page.
Update: 1 March 2013
Section 5 of Inspector Lloyd Rogers' briefing note for the pre-inquiry meeting identifies the documents considered to be the Great Yarmouth Port Company Statement of Case and directs that the submitted objections in this matter were to be taken as 'statements of case'. Statements of case for the Great Yarmouth Port Company and those who made objections and representations are available on the Great Yarmouth HRO selected cases page.
