National control action programmes
We, along with Marine Scotland (MS), Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and the Welsh Government (WAG), carry out monitoring and control activities within British fishery limits.
Multi-annual plans (recovery plans) are instigated by the European Council to reinforce existing fisheries management measures in order to achieve sustainable exploitation of stocks, and many of these plans are within our fishery limits. National control action plans for these areas are compiled by the UK and other relevant member states to ensure the fisheries are accurately monitored and control resources are deployed effectively.
