Current and past real time closures (RTCs)
There are also Celtic Sea box closures from 1 February until 31 March to all fishing activity to protect spawning cod.
Offshore RTCs 199, 202 and 202 to 207 reopened at at 23.59 on 31 January. Inshore RTC 201 reopened at 23.59 on 14 January.
New offshore RTCs 208 to 216 will be closed from 00.01 on Wednesday 1 February 2012 until 23.59 on Wednesday 29 February 2012.
Seasonal closures 1 and 2 remain closed until 23.59 on 30 April 2012.
All closures in February are based on historical data and are compulsory for all UK vessels 10 metres and over using demersal trawls (including otter, beam and seines), fixed nets (including gill, entangling and trammel) and longlines.
All UK vessels under 10 metres using demersal trawls (including otter, beam and seines), fixed nets (including gill, entangling and trammel) and longlines are requested to comply with these closures to assist with the preservation and recovery of cod stocks.
