Dispensations
We are responsible for issuing dispensations from national domestic and European marine fisheries legislation for the purposes of genuine scientific research.
If you think you require a dispensation, please complete the Dispensation request form (PDF 120 KB), providing as much detail as possible.
We require at least four weeks' notice prior to the start of a research programme.
For research in other UK waters, dispensations will be issued by the relevant devolved administration.
Local byelaws are the responsibility of the local inshore fisheries and conservation authority.
